PhD Wired Review

I have decided to do a 100% non-bias review on my thoughts and experiences with PhD Nutrition’s Wired. Wired is an ultra concentrated pre-workout product that is definitely in the upper echelon for ultra-concentrates. It offers much more appropriate doses for ingredients that other concentrates just don’t deliver. I will try to be as helpful and informative as I can throughout my review but if I have missed anything or if you have any questions please do so at the bottom of the page.

PhD Wired Supplement Rating

Overall, I give wired an 8/10.

Solid doses for a concentrated pre workout product that delivers clean energy as opposed to the rocket fuel you are getting from other concentrates that send you into a jittery mess. If your into clean, yet high energy with an emphasis on focus, check this stuff out.

“So what is PhD Wired?”

PhD Wired is a powdered pre-workout product with strength and performance in mind. With a full 14.4g serving you can expect efficacious doses of creatine magnesium chelate, L-citruline malate, beta alanine, AAKG, L-tyrosine and caffeine. I like this blend, solid total amount in grams for a concentrate and they kept it simple and effective. So often I see pre-workout products throwing so many ingredients in their blends, often 20+ ingredients. This is trying to attack way too many things pre-workout and more often than not, the more ingredients your getting, the more likely you are getting under dosed. Which is why I love that PhD Wired kept it to 5 major muscle ingredients and one stimulant.

From a strength and endurance standpoint we have the creatine magnesium chelate and beta alanine present in the blend (for more information on these two pure ingredients see my pure ingredient breakdowns on the home page). What L-citruline malate and AAKG bring to the table is an increase in nitric oxide production to induce a more swelling muscle pump. A muscle pump is NOT just a cosmetic benefit to training and has a large list chain reactions that lead to building muscle mass and strength and if I can incorporate any supplementation to increase this shockwave effect then it is definitely best used pre-workout.

Now with the stimulation PhD kept it simple and effective. Pharmaceutical grade caffeine and L-tyrosine with a welcome addition of oleuropein aglycone. The combination of L-tyrosine and oleuropein aglycone will promote mind-muscle connection and focus and the caffeine will raise your energy levels and get you ready for the gym. For me the stimulate portion of the pre-workout, which is majority of the time mostly what you are feeling when you take a pre-workout product, was very clean and focused. After taking as many products as I have you can truly feel the stimulate difference between focus, energy, endurance, clean energy and crazy energy. With Wired it was a very sustained, clean energy with an emphasis on focus with no crash after the workout. That being said one scoop was not nearly strong enough for me, I used two scoops every session.

If I have to compare this product to another product on the market I would say the energy is most comparable to Animal Rage and the pump is most comparable to Applied Nutraceuticals Lit-Up. But it tastes better than both of those products, mixes up with zero issues and all the flavours I’ve tried have actually tasted as advertised, which is pretty unfortunately rare. My sweet spot was two scoops in 16oz of water.
